Tegnap nem volt iskola (bár amúgy is betegállományban van a csemete, most éppen fülgyulladásból kifolyólag), úgyhogy beindítottuk a már régóta tervezett palántázási projektet. Az újrahasznosítás jegyében az eddigi években üres joghurtos-pudingos-tejfölös-satöbbis dobozokat használtam, de mostanában kevesebb kis dobozos mindenféle fogy. Ráakadtam viszont egy olyan
"zöld" ötletre, amihez olyasmi kell, ami biztos, hogy keletkezik otthon, és legjobb esetben is csak a szelektív hulladékgyűjtő papírrészlegében végzi.
A móka kedvéért természetesen részletesen dokumentáltuk az eseményeket. A szemlélők kedvéért az egész alakos képeket aztán gondosan nem tettem be ide. :D
Tehát, hogyan neveljünk paradicsom-paprika-bazsalikom palántákat vécépapírgurigában?
There was no school yesterday (though the kiddo has otitis and would have stayed at home anyways) so we started off the seedling project that we have been planning for some time. I've always been using empty yoghurt or dessert plastic pots to recycle but in the past couple of months we haven't eaten that much of these. Last week I came across this green idea using stuff that is present in every household and ends up in the recycling bin - well, that would be the optimal case. For the sake of fun we documented each step of the action. For the sake of you, dear readers, I left out the full body photos, though :D
So, here's how to grow your own seedling tomatoes/peppers/basils in toilet paper rolls :)
1. lépés / Step 1.
Az előkészületek: a hozzávalók gondos kikészítése, benti munkához a padló letakarása (igen, nálunk a nappaliban történt az eset :))
Preparations: get everything you will need ready and if you plan to work indoors, make sure to cover the floor (yes, we had the fun in the living room :))

2. lépés / Step 2.
Mivel nem arról vagyok híres, hogy minden megjegyzek, és táblácskázni nem akartam, így gondosan megszámoztam a magokat, és ennek megfelelően a gurigákat is.
Így hát ha minden jól megy, lesz mindhárom bazsalikomból 1-1 adag, 1 díszpaprika, 2 sárga körte alakú paradicsom, 2 tigriscsíkos, és 4-4 narancssárga illetve piros koktélparadicsom.
Since I am not a genius when it comes to remembering which seed went to which pot (:D) and didn't want to have little signs sticking out of the rolls either, I decided to number each type of seed and the rolls as well, accordingly.
So if everything goes as planned (hehe), we will have one of each of the three kinds of basils, one pot of peppers, 2 yellow pear-shaped tomato seedlings, 2 striped tomato seedlings and 4 orange and 4 red cherry tomato seedlings.

3. lépés / Step 3.
És jöhet a föld! Hogy a guriga alján ne jöjjön ki feltöltés közben, és hogy a tálca se legyen tele a kiszóródott földdel, egy pudingospohárba tettem a gurigát, és ott töltöttük meg, időnként gondosan tömörítve a földet. Így a végén egy mozdulattal biztonságosan áthelyezhető a - szintén újrahasznos - műanyag tálcákba (újkorukban krumpli, jégkrém illetve éttermi hazavivős étel lakott bennük).
To make sure the soil won't come out at the bottom of the roll I put it in a plastic pot to fill it there, occasionally compacting the soil a bit. Thus I can transfer them easily to the plastic trays that will host them. These, of course are recycled too: they used to contain potatoes, ice cream and takeaway food.
